Wednesday

Finally, a break!

We know that being in such an amazing place can be very, very distracting. So, to give everyone a break from the science, and to enjoy Banff and the region, we have arranged for a full day of rest and relaxation.

An optional field trip is also offered for delegates (pre-register here), and lunch will be provided for those attending the field trip.

For those who won't be joining the field trip, you are on your own for the day. But, we hope you take advantage of other self-led excursions. If you want to take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, we have a discount code for you (see the Program).

An afternoon Networking event is planned at a local curling centre, at 15:00, so we hope you can attend.

Continue enjoying the local flare that Banff has to offer for dinner, and rest up because Thursday will be a VERY full day!

Thursday

Breakfast will be available for delegates at the Banff Park Lodge and Resort. Also, if you didn't upload your talk earlier in the week, then please bring it to the registration desk to upload.

The Joint Symposium begins at 9:00 with another exciting Plenary Speaker, which will be followed by a morning break.

Two concurrent sessions in the morning will include Invited Talks, and you can share notes with someone who attended the other session during lunch, provided for all delegates.

A range of concurrent sessions will take place in the afternoon, and an afternoon break will allow for one last visit to posters before they have to come down.

Transportation to the Banquet begins at 17:30. All delegates and their guests will be taken by commercial bus to the Mount View banquet location (no private vehicles can be used).

Buses will run all evening to/from the Banff Park Lodge and Mount View.

At Mount View, we have planned an unforgettable evening. Not only will you enjoy spectacular mountain views, but you are in for a treat of local food, regional music by the band Kickstart, and dancing! This will be a party for the ages!

Friday

Sadly, the Joint Symposium is coming to an end, but not before an extraordinary day of talks and a Farewell Reception.

Today's activities will take place a short walk away from the Banff Park Lodge, at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre, which has amazing views of the mountain scenery.

We will begin with opening remarks at 9:00, then showcase four Invited Talks that highlight the depth and breadth of our two societies, as well as hint to the exciting future at the intersection of environmental biogeochemistry and subsurface microbiology.

ISEB will have a brief Membership Meeting to vote on and announce its new executive board, and student award winners will be announced.

Last, but not least, our last Plenary Speaker will wrap up the week, as "The Closer," before we enjoy a final reception, the Farewell, of sandwiches and pastries. You won't want to miss this day!
